Thirsty

It's Friday and I think we all know what that means... it's time for a cocktail. I don't know about you, but it has been a long week. School is finally out and summer has thankfully begun.

In honor of both, I'd like to share with you one of my favorite cocktails and one that we enjoyed plenty of last weekend. It's Brazilian, super easy and "perfeito" for a warm, summer night.

The Caipirosca/Capriosca

crushed ice
the juice of 2 limes
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
2-2.5 oz of Vodka
*makes one drink so multiply accordingly*
**Make sure you have a citrus press on hand!**

Using a rolling pin, crush the brown sugar and lime juice into semi-crushed ice. (The key is to have a perfect blend of sweet and sour, which depends upon the amount of lime juice you get out.) Top with Vodka and stir. Garnish with a slice of lime.

Cheers!

One weekend in Vegas

Last Friday, my friend Marci and I hosted a girls' weekend here in Las Vegas for our good friend Shana.  The lovely Andrea and Liz kindly joined us for a little debauchery and a lot of laughs.  We were also blessed with a visit by the infamous Neilochka and his wife, Sophia.  They hung out with us on Saturday night and experienced more Vodka, boobs and corruption than a Ukrainian whorehouse.  I don't think any of us will ever forget it!

Here we are looking pretty well-behaved:

It's funny, a mere 5 years ago (when I first started reading blogs) I never imagined that I'd one day form such amazing friendships online. I was so excited to meet them and see what they'd be like in person. These women (and Neil) were everything I thought they'd be and more!  I can't wait to see them all again.  And hopefully if we are lucky, this will become an annual event!

Stay tuned for a recipe of my favorite cocktail from the weekend...
